You may be overclicking. Be sure that you put the food ordered in the fryer or oven and then when its done click on it one after the other and plates should appear for you to hold the items on. If this is not working at all, then I would contact Playfirst support at the top of the screen but I think it will be fine once you get the hang of it. :)
A few other tips that may help with this game...
It is very important that you have the radio and the deep fryer and grills updated at this point. The radio is very important because it will keep the people in line from leaving and deducting huge points from your score. Please note the when you turn on the radio stand by it until the green circle goes all the way around. If you just click the radio and walk away it won't work. I learned that the hard way. Once I used the radio correctly, I was able to beat the level. In this game, be sure that you make juice ahead of time, ice cream cones ahead of time and anything at all ahead of time you can. The businesswomen I usually serve first because the are very impatient and the elderly man is pretty patient. Now, you must color match the customer to the seats and chain your actions as much as possible. Seat people all in a row, give them all menus, serve them, clean them up. If you can do that without breaking the chain, you will earn mega points. One other thing that might help. Sometimes it trips people up when you have to seat 2 people at a time. Let's say you have a red and blue seat and you have a red a blue couple but the are in the wrong order to seat them correctly...put them in the chairs but do not let go of your mouse button! THEN while they are seated drag the mouse downward and they will switch places. If you have played Diner Dash in the past it is kind of like that when you can rearrange people in thier seats to match colors.
